Prohibited and Restricted Items for International Delivery
Written by Ecoparcel on June 22, 2020
Almost all shipping companies have an individual prohibited and restricted item list. Some items (that we call “restricted”) may be shipped subject to certain conditions. Shipments containing prohibited items will almost always be rejected and will certainly not be successfully sent to another location.
Different restrictions may apply to individuals and companies when shipping internationally, so we always recommend reading the list of the company you have chosen.
Which items are allowed and which are restricted?
It is important to keep in mind that sometimes the requirements for prohibited and restricted items may differ depending on whether the parcel is sent by companies or individuals. For example, businesses producing or distributing tobacco, alcohol or products containing lithium batteries can ship them through authorized logistics providers. However, individuals are not allowed to send any of these products in most countries and if they choose to do so regardless of the prohibitions, they do so at their own risk.
Restricted items are those whose sending is not recommended. This list includes items that are very fragile and can easily break, very expensive items that can be damaged in the event of an accident, foods that require special conditions to send, and a number of others that you will find on the list.
Speaking of which, Ecoparcel has also compiled a relevant list that you can follow when sending your parcels:
