Protest and Flood Delays in France Italy and Spain
Protests in France and Italy, strikes in Italy and flooding in Spain are slowing shipments. Collections and deliveries in the areas below may run behind schedule.
France. Cost-of-living protests and riots hit Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Lille, Strasbourg and other cities on Saturday 17 October. Expect delays to collections and deliveries in these cities while the unrest continues. Hérault and Gard are also under flood warnings on 19 and 20 October.
Italy. Protests in Milan, Turin and Bologna on 17 October may slow city rounds. A road-haulage strike in Sicily and Calabria runs until at least Tuesday 20 October, and fuel is short in Sicily, Basilicata, Calabria and Puglia. One of our delivery partners also reports slower rounds around Rome, Naples, Modena, Siena and Monza. General strikes on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October will slow shipments moved by rail and through ports.
Spain. Flooding around Valencia, Alicante, Murcia and the Balearic Islands has cut roads and suspended local rail lines.
Bulgaria. Deliveries in Sofia and Plovdiv are slower than usual.
Coming up: public holidays in Hungary on Friday 23 October, Austria and Ireland on Monday 26 October, Greece and Czechia on Wednesday 28 October and Lithuania on Monday 2 November, plus Madrid, Andalusia and several other Spanish regions the same day. No collections or deliveries on those days.
