Port Strikes and Delays Across Several EU Markets

Strikes and storm damage are slowing shipments in several markets. Collections and deliveries below may run behind schedule.

Germany and the Netherlands. A 48-hour strike is closing container terminals at Hamburg and other North Sea ports until Friday 4 September. Dutch ports in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Zeeland strike the same Friday with no truck handling at most terminals. A 24-hour Dutch rail stoppage follows on Wednesday 9 September. Sea and rail shipments through these ports will be delayed while the backlog clears.

Italy. One of our delivery partners reports slower collections and deliveries from depots serving Treviso, Modena, Monza, Bergamo, Pisa, Foligno and Naples. National rail strikes on 7 to 8 September and 10 to 11 September will slow shipments moved by rail.

Lithuania. The last power outages from the 22 August storm are being restored this week and rounds in the Utena, Panevėžys and Kaunas districts may still be catching up.

You can check the current status of any shipment on our tracking page.

Coming up: public holidays in Bulgaria on Monday 7 September and Malta on Tuesday 8 September, plus regional holidays in Asturias and Extremadura on 8 September and Catalonia on Friday 11 September. No collections or deliveries on those days.

Weather Delays Across Several EU Markets

Severe weather across Europe over the past week has disrupted road and rail networks in several of the countries we deliver to. Collections and deliveries in the markets below may run behind schedule while our partners clear the backlogs.

Baltic states and north-eastern Poland. A severe windstorm brought down power lines and blocked roads. Power restoration in Latvia continued until 28 August and some delivery rounds are still catching up.

Italy. Storms damaged roads and rail in the north, with train cancellations around Cremona. In the south, temperatures above 44°C are slowing collections and deliveries.

France and Spain. Storms suspended several rail lines around Paris. Flooding in Catalonia closed the N-340 and cut rail lines around Tarragona.

We will contact recipients directly where we hold their details. You can check the current status of any shipment on our tracking page.

Coming up: Slovakia has a public holiday on Tuesday 1 September, and industrial action is planned at Dutch ports on Friday 4 September with a national rail stoppage on Wednesday 9 September. Please allow an extra day for shipments routed through these countries.
