When preparing a parcel for international delivery, it’s essential to ensure that it is packed correctly according to Ecoparcel's official guidelines. Proper packaging helps protect your items during transit, ensures compliance with courier requirements, and avoids complications that could result in delays or rejection. Failure to follow these packing rules could lead to issues with your shipment, and Ecoparcel cannot be held responsible for any damages.

Use a Sturdy Box, Not a Bag or Suitcase
For international shipments, it is essential to use a robust, corrugated cardboard box designed for shipping. Unlike bags, backpacks, or suitcases, which lack the necessary structural integrity to protect items during transit, a box provides the required stability and safety. Soft-sided containers are prone to damage or crushing, potentially compromising the shipment. A properly sized and sturdy box ensures that the contents are securely contained.
-
Why Correct Packaging Matters
If a parcel is packed incorrectly, the courier may refuse to collect it. Incorrectly packed parcels will not be eligible for insurance or compensation in case of damage. Always choose a new, high-quality box; visible damage such as cracks, tears, or weak spots may result in delivery delays.
For heavy or fragile packages (around 50kg), consider placing the box on a pallet and secure it with stretch film or straps.

How to Pack Items Inside the Box
Securely pack the contents to prevent shifting. Use materials like bubble wrap, foam, or packing peanuts to cushion the items. Pack snugly without overstuffing, and leave a few centimeters between items and the box walls by filling gaps with packing material.
Please avoid sending fragile items unless they are properly prepared for delivery.
Use new, high-quality, double-walled boxes for reliable protection.
-
No Free Gaps Inside the Box
Ensure there are no empty spaces inside the box. Unfilled gaps can allow items to move during transit, increasing the risk of damage. Fill any gaps with appropriate packing material.
Quick reminder:
- Moving boxes are for short-distance transport and not suitable for shipments.
- Packaging boxes are designed for storage, not for shipping protection.
- Shipping boxes are specifically built for safe transit.
-
Avoid Wrapping the Box in Clingfilm or Plastic
Do not wrap your box in clingfilm, plastic, or similar materials, as this may obscure or damage the shipping label. Ensure the label remains clearly visible to avoid delays or lost parcels.

How to Pack a Pallet Securely
Follow these key guidelines when shipping a pallet:
- 🟢 Use a sturdy wooden pallet that is in good condition, without cracks or damage.
- 🟢 Stack items evenly and keep heavier items at the bottom for balanced weight distribution.
- 🟢 Secure the shipment with b strapping or stretch wrap to prevent movement during transit.
- 🟢 Ensure all items fit within the edges of the pallet — nothing should overhang. Overhanging items risk damage and may cause the pallet to be rejected.
- 🚫 Do not use damaged or unstable pallets as they may break during transport.
- 🚫 Do not leave loose or unprotected items that can shift and cause damage.
- 🚫 Do not stack items unevenly or too high to avoid an unbalanced load that may tip over.
Properly packed pallets reduce the risk of damage and ensure smooth handling throughout the shipping process.
