Shopify Shipping in Europe: A 2026 Setup Guide

To ship Shopify orders across Europe, connect your store to Ecoparcel's free Shopify app. Shopify shipping then runs itself: every new order imports into your Ecoparcel dashboard automatically, you book collection with vetted couriers at your account rates, and the tracking number syncs back to Shopify the moment the shipment is on its way. Buyers can even see live Ecoparcel delivery prices, parcel lockers included, inside your Shopify checkout.

Shopify gives you the storefront and the payment; getting the parcel to the buyer is your job. This guide explains how that job works in Europe, what the integration automates, and what it costs.

TL;DR

  • Auto order import — unfulfilled Shopify orders appear in your Ecoparcel dashboard, priced and ready to book.
  • Live checkout rates — buyers see real Ecoparcel prices for home delivery and parcel lockers at checkout.
  • Tracking sync — booked shipments push their tracking number back to Shopify and mark the order fulfilled.

How does Shopify shipping work in Europe?

Third-party trackers such as DemandSage count about 6.8 million active Shopify stores as of 2026. In most of Europe, though, Shopify does not deliver the parcel. The merchant arranges carriage: you pick the courier, pay for the label, and get the parcel collected.

Order fulfilment covers the steps between "order placed" and "parcel delivered": picking, packing, label creation, courier collection and delivery, plus the tracking updates the buyer sees. Shopify automates none of the middle steps on its own in Europe, which is why growing stores connect a shipping integration instead of typing addresses into courier websites.

According to Cross-Border Commerce Europe's October 2025 marketplace report, European cross-border e-commerce reached €358.7 billion in 2024/25, with online marketplaces generating €247.5 billion of that. A store in Vilnius, Valencia or Vienna sells to the whole continent by default, so its shipping setup has to handle dozens of destination countries without a per-country carrier contract.

Can I ship my Shopify orders with Ecoparcel?

Yes. The Ecoparcel app is live on the Shopify App Store, announced in February 2026. Once your store is connected, Ecoparcel fetches every unfulfilled order, fills in the buyer's delivery address, applies your default parcel size and pickup address, and prices the shipment at your account rates. You review and book — no retyping.

A Shopify shipping integration is an app that connects a Shopify store to a shipping platform, so orders import automatically, labels are booked with couriers, and tracking numbers flow back to the store without manual entry. After booking, Ecoparcel pushes the tracking number to the matching Shopify order and marks it fulfilled, so your buyer gets Shopify's standard shipping-confirmation email with a working tracking link.

The network behind it is pan-European: Ecoparcel customers booked shipments to 48 countries in the first half of 2026. Ready to connect your store? The step-by-step Shopify install guide covers the whole setup in a few minutes.

How do live shipping rates at Shopify checkout work?

Carrier-calculated (live) rates are real delivery prices from the shipping provider, shown inside Shopify checkout and based on destination, weight and dimensions, instead of flat rates the merchant guesses at. When a buyer reaches checkout, Shopify asks Ecoparcel for prices for that exact basket, and the buyer picks from the returned options: home delivery, parcel locker, or locker-to-locker where available.

Each option is priced from your own account, so the rate the buyer pays matches the rate you would see in your dashboard. One requirement comes from Shopify's side: your Shopify plan must include carrier-calculated shipping. On plans without it, order import and tracking sync still work; only the live rates at checkout are unavailable.

Geopost's 2025 E-shopper Barometer found that 46% of regular European online shoppers now favour out-of-home delivery, up 15 percentage points on 2019. Our own numbers agree: in H1 2026, 24% of completed Ecoparcel orders used a parcel locker at drop-off, delivery, or both.

Parcel locker delivery is courier delivery to a self-service locker the buyer chooses at checkout. Lockers are open around the clock, which is why buyers who miss daytime deliveries pick them first.

Which e-commerce platforms does Ecoparcel integrate with?

Shopify is one of six channels that feed the same Ecoparcel dashboard:

Which channels also carry live checkout rates and tracking write-back is compared feature by feature in our integrations and API guide. A BigCommerce app has been submitted to the BigCommerce App Marketplace and is coming soon. Every connected channel lands in the same My Orders view, so a seller running Shopify and Etsy side by side books, labels and tracks everything in one place.

What does Shopify shipping cost with Ecoparcel?

The app itself is free: the Shopify App Store lists Ecoparcel as free to install, with no subscription. You pay per shipment, at the same account rates you see in your Ecoparcel dashboard, whether the order arrived from Shopify automatically or you created it by hand. Shipping charges are billed by Ecoparcel, separately from your Shopify invoice.

Those rates come from Ecoparcel's contracts with vetted European couriers, and we match each route to the courier with the best price-to-quality ratio for that lane. Once shipping runs itself, the time goes back into selling — our guide on selling effectively on Shopify covers that side.

Frequently asked questions

Does Ecoparcel have a Shopify app?
Yes. The Ecoparcel app is listed on the Shopify App Store and has been live since February 2026. Installing it connects your store in a few clicks: orders import automatically, you book couriers from your Ecoparcel dashboard, and tracking flows back to Shopify. The install guide walks through every step.

How do I show Ecoparcel rates at my Shopify checkout?
Install the Ecoparcel app and approve the shipping-rates permission during setup. Your Shopify plan must include carrier-calculated shipping; on plans without it, order import and tracking still work, but checkout shows your flat rates instead. Once enabled, buyers see live Ecoparcel prices for home delivery and parcel lockers.

Does tracking update automatically in Shopify?
Yes. When your shipment is booked and processed in Ecoparcel, the tracking number is pushed to the matching Shopify order and the order is marked fulfilled. Your buyer receives Shopify's standard shipping-confirmation email with the tracking link, without you copying numbers between systems.

Can I ship Etsy and Shopify orders from one dashboard?
Yes. Ecoparcel's Etsy and Shopify integrations feed the same My Orders dashboard, so a seller running both channels books all shipments, prints all labels and tracks every parcel in one place. Connect Etsy through the Etsy integration guide; each channel keeps its own automatic tracking sync.

Does the Ecoparcel app cost anything?
No. The Shopify App Store lists the app as free to install, with no subscription. You pay per shipment at your Ecoparcel account rates — the same prices shown in your dashboard — and those charges are billed by Ecoparcel separately from your Shopify invoice.

Do I need a packaging (EPR) registration to ship my orders?
Not to ship: booking with Ecoparcel requires no packaging registration or EPR number. Sellers placing packaged products on EU markets do have their own registration duties under the EU packaging regulation (PPWR), filed with national registers, never through the courier.
